The Plate Tectonics cafe menu has been assembled with 6th grade Science students in mind and addressing the CA Science standards. Original Plate Tectonics menu
This is a version of the Plate Tectonics Menu done in Publisher. I put my name, school and rules in spots that can be easily edited for each person.
After I got an email from Sandy, I realized that the MS Publisher files were hard to open for some people to open so I saved it as a Pdf file. I hope that helps.

This is the grading rubric in Word for the cafe. Suggestions for improvements are welcome. This is the same document in compatibility mode of Word so more can open it.
Graham Cracker Plate The Plate Tectonics cafe menu has been assembled with 6th grade Science students in mind and addressing the CA Science standards.

This is from Mrs. Poarch, a Texas teacher by a teacher who makes her lessons accessible to teachers. I've used it for years. These two lessons are about plate movement and allows students to test various possibilities for plate movement. .

I'm not sure where to add these in the menu and I don't have an snappy name ideas so I'll leave that for someone more creative :) Here are some activities I use with my 8th grade Plate Tectonics unit...
Students use adding paper strip to create a cross sectional scale model of Earth's layers plus added landmarks such as Mt. Everest, Space Shuttle Orbit, etc for reference.

Using interactive website, students complete worksheet to review earth's layers, plate tectonics, etc

Using Thinkquest, students complete online reading and questions to learn about plate tectonics

USGS Volcanoes - Windows Into Earth Activity 1 - Students create 3 paper models of different types of volcanoes, explore "Ring of Fire" by plotting volcanoes on map & comparing w/ plate boundary map.

Musical Plates Real-Time Data Project: Students plot earthquakes over a 2 week period using USGS website. Consider modifying by limiting the plotting to quakes with a magnitude of 3.0 or above, otherwise the number of data points per day becomes overwhelming. http://www.ciese.org/curriculum/musicalplates3/en/studentactivities.shtml
